blogger's quilt festival

dear blogger friends
welcome! welcome to my blog
i join Amy at Park City Girl's blogger's fall quilt festival.
i have already gone to a few blogs and saw many great quilts! i wish to visit them all.
it is great to see outside of my own little box.

well.. me..
i started quilting about 4 years ago. i was inspired by a quilt that i received when i graduated from college. it is a simple white/red/cream nine patch quilt. i LOVE it!

i was introduced to hand-embroidery by the same friend who made me the nine patch quilt.
the above quilt was hand-embroidered and hand-quilted. The images were dated back in 1930's newspaper- mother goose. are you familiar with any of these images from your childhood? they are still very new to me.

i have been collecting mother goose embroidery patterns about 3 years now. I have also made a couple other mother goose quilts simply in red and white.

this is the first quilt i made for her
it is hanging in her room and she LOVES it..

how thrilled i was to see this quilt. My great grandmother used these patterns to make a quilt for my father, her only grandchild. Just yesterday i found the original designer of these red work embroidery squares. Ruby Short McKim is her name and you are right they appeared in newspapers through the 20's and 30's. check my blog to see my GG's www.lalaslovelys.blogspot.com. look on the right side bar for Genieveve's work to see some of her quilts.

This is so much fun.. I love how you've taken such a universal set and shown the differences. My favourites are the Victorian set and the second to last set with the friendship stars. I would love to see all of these in person next to each other, what a story they tell.

Amazing details! I love to embroider too but have found the doodling so liberating lately :)
